ROC-A RADIO OPERATORS CERTIFICATE

The ROC-A Radiotelephony Certificate allows you to communicate with air traffic control and manned aircraft using an aeronautical VHF radiotelephone, and is generally expected for professional drone operators operating in controlled airspace.
The course discusses the rules, protocols and procedures around transmitting on the air-band frequencies and introduces the radio equipment available. Meet the air traffic controllers, practice live communications and gain confidence in using and monitoring the air-band channels. The course includes the ROC-A exam and certificate.

PRE-REQS
  • No drone knowledge is required to attend this course.
  • A valid passport, driver’s licence, birth certificate, baptismal certificate, citizenship certificate or landed immigrant identification card.
  • There are no nationality or age restrictions as to who may take the examination or hold an ROC-A.
  • We recommend reviewing the ROC-A study guide prior to attending the course.

PRE-REQS
  • No drone experience is required to attend the TP15263 Knowledge training course. However, we do recommend you first gain some basic knowledge on operating drones and review the Transport Canada website on 'how to fly your drone safely and legally'.

ADVANCED RPAS FLIGHT REVIEW

A flight review is one of the requirements for conducting advanced operations with your drone (or 'RPAS') and assesses your ability to operate a drone safely. You will receive additional information on the flight review process when booking.

PRE-REQS
  • A digital or physical copy of the results page of your successfully completed small advanced exam
  • A valid (not expired) piece of government-issued (federal/provincial/territorial/state government authority or the equivalent body abroad) identification that provides your name and date of birth
  • The Certificate of Registration for the drone used for the flight review (*Drones also available at the flight school)
